Confirmation
Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John, who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit; for it had not yet fallen on any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:14-17).
Baptism, the Eucharist, and the Sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "Sacraments of Christian Initiation," whose unity must be safeguarded.
Confirmation (meaning to make fast or sure) perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament in which we ask the Holy Spirit to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds.

Youth Confirmation
Confirmation classes review the meaning of the Sacraments of Initiation, and the importance of Mass and personal prayer. Regular Mass attendance and parent involvement are crucial and required to properly prepare for this Sacrament.
Registration for Youth Confirmation will happen early in the year. Youth Confirmation classes are generally held on a weeknight from roughly February to May. Confirmation occurs in the Spring by one of the Bishops, contingent on scheduling with the Archdiocese and the availability of our Bishops. Retreat dates will be announced as details become available.
Youth Confirmation classes are for students in 7th grade, the equivalent age, or with the Pastors permission. To learn more about Youth Confirmation at Blessed Sacrament, please contact Gaylan Adair at gadair@bspwa.org.
Confirmation Classes for Adults, and Teens Aged 16 and Older
Registration for Adult Confirmation will also happen in late fall. Adult Confirmation classes are generally held on a weeknight from roughly January to May. Confirmation occurs in the Spring by one of the Bishops, contingent on scheduling with the Archdiocese and the availability of our Bishops.
Baptized Catholics aged 16 and older who have never received the Sacrament of Confirmation may prepare for this Sacrament in a couple of ways. To learn more, please contact Gaylan Adair at gadair@bspwa.org.
