Sound System Upgrade:
We Need Your Support!
We have had several starts and stops over the past couple of years around needed enhancements to our sound system. Our goal has been to find a solution that will enhance the spoken word, enabling all to hear regardless of where you are seated. Over the past several months, we have been working with Morgan Sound to develop a system appropriate for our sacred space. At long last, we have a workable solution.
We currently have $15,000 in reserve from the Annual Catholic Appeal overage from several years ago. This amount gives us a head start on the funds we will need to complete the project. The project will be completed in phases as the funds become available.
If you are able and willing to support this project, please submit your donations from our electronic giving portal, or if you prefer to pay by check, indicate Sound System in the memo portion. If you have any questions, you can reach Debbie at dgonzalez@bspwa.org or (206) 732-7340.
Phase One Scope:
A new PA system for the Sanctuary. The main speakers will be replaced with a passive steered array speaker system giving us the ability to direct sound where it needs to go in the first half of the church. Another pair of speakers will be installed on to the outside of the altar to cover the Transept seating areas. An additional pair of smaller passive array speakers will be installed halfway back in the church to provide full coverage of the space. New wired mics for the ambo and cantor. New wireless systems with high quality belt packs with lavalier mics and two handheld mics. The equipment has been selected to provide the maximum speaking and vocal clarity. The existing audio DSP mixer and infrastructure will be reconfigured to support the audio systems. Estimated cost for phase one is $52,962.
Phase Two Scope:
32 channel digital mixer with iPad for wireless control in the sanctuary. This mixer will provide advanced control of the audio system and streaming audio feeds. Additional loudspeakers and volume controls in the sacristy and conference space to make it easy for church staff to follow the Masses as needed. Estimated cost for phase two is $7,577.
Phase Three Scope:
Two sets of mics for adding ambience into the live streaming system. Mics are omni directional and will be used to pick up the general room feel. Shogun mics will be installed to provide focused pickup of the congregation to pick up call and response for the live stream. Estimated cost for phase three is $3,778.
